Another campaign for the major brands of tea for their sustainability and to stop the modern-day slavery on plantations.
Unilever published its global tea suppliers in drive for slave-free sourcing, including its market leader PG Tips.
Research has shown that many tea pickers are paid below the minimum wage and live in poverty. United Nations said that 25 million people are trapped in forced labor, from farms to factories.
Revealing such data to the public can help the tea workers complain directly to the brand they are supplying whenever there are false advertisement to the consumers.
“With transparency comes transformation,” said Mick Van Ettinger, Unilever’s executive vice president for beverages.
