PG Tips, one of the largest tea brands in the UK switched to biodegradable plant-based teabags.
These bags are created from corn starch and was first introduced on some products around 2018.
PG Tips also removed the outer plastic wrap on the 160 teabags boxes. They also plan to removed it from all of their tea sizes next year.
Unilever claims that the new plant-based materials would provide retailers a product that would help the environment. Also, it will be a product that ‘shoppers are actively looking for’.
Here is also a PG Tips Commercial from 1971 that stars chimpanzees with bowler hats.
